“The
Role of Technology in the 21st
Century Education”
Technology
nowadays is rapidly advancing. Its accelerating change may suggest
faster and more profound change in the future. More enhanced tools
and gadgets are produced which is very helpful in our learning
process.
Technology
is the greatest discovery ever made by humans. It contributes a lot
in the field of education; to the professors in their teaching, and
to the students in their learning and studying. In the 21st
century, more and more online education services like online
tutorials & online classes are available for the students.
Through this services, students can meet experts online. This will be
a great experience to the students and they will be more interested
and motivated to learn. Technology is also helpful for the professors
in their teaching career. They can use technology in making their
teaching more effective and more convenient. For an instance,
professors can just post the lessons online and allow the students to
access it. But they must not rely on technology too much because it
will be ineffective. Students will lose interest and they won’t
have the eagerness to learn. They must consider and bear in mind that
a well-balanced teacher (traditional + technofreak) is always best
and effective.
There
are pros and cons concerning technology. One of the greatest
downfalls of technology is the effect it has mainly on the
students/learners. They must not be taught to rely on technology to
do their thinking for them. It will weaken their foundation of
education and intelligence. Instead, bring out the curiousity in
them. When they’re curious, they will ask questions; when they ask
questions, let them find the answers. It will be best because they
will be using their abilities and thinking skills.
